Traditional Kerala

Kerala is historically known as Keralam, was formed on 1st Nov 1956 as per the states Reorganisation act by combining various Malayalam speaking regions. The legend is that the land of Kerala was reclaimed from the sea when Lord Parasurama an avatar of Lord Vishnu threw his ax into the ocean from Kanyakumari and it fell near Gokarna. All the land in between was reclaimed from the ocean to form Kerala.

Kumarakom
